Merzari to receive Landis Young Member Engineering Achievement Award

Nuclear engineer Elia Merzari is to receive the American Nuclear Society’s (ANS) 2014 Landis Young Member Engineering Achievement Award.

Merzari holds a joint appointment with the Nuclear Engineering and Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne.

The Landis award was established to recognize outstanding achievement in which engineering knowledge has been effectively applied to yield an engineering concept, design, safety improvement, method of analysis or product utilized in nuclear power research and development or commercial application.  Merzari was acknowledged for his contributions to simulation of complex turbulent flows and multiscale/multiphysics simulations of nuclear reactor designs

Merzari will receive the award at the 2014 ANS Annual Meeting in June.
